Follow the Money - Commercial...
Date: Tuesday 6th August 2025
Time: 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM AEST
Discover what happened when Dr Gary Fettke gave science-backed nutrition advice that challenged powerful industry and bureaucratic interests. This session explores how today’s doctors face professional risk not for harming patients, but for speaking up. Learn how commercial and ideological agendas are now central conflict zones in healthcare, and what AMPS is doing to push back.
How does a doctor stay aligned with evidence, ethics, and the Hippocratic Oath when regulators don’t? Dr Fettke’s battle with AHPRA reveals what happens when integrity becomes inconvenient to the system. We’ll unpack the moral injury health professionals face and offer strategies to preserve professional integrity in the face of regulatory intimidation.
From emergency suspensions to open-ended investigations, AHPRA has extraordinary power with little accountability. Dr Fettke will walk us through what he endured, and what every practitioner should be prepared for, from your first letter, to your legal rights, to staying resilient during protracted reviews. AMPS outlines the urgent reforms needed to protect the innocent and ensure due process.
Dr Fettke’s courage sparked Senate inquiries, exposed food industry influence, and inspired thousands of practitioners. Now, AMPS is taking the fight further, calling for the end of politically motivated investigations and a regulatory model that serves patients, not bureaucracy. Learn how to join the movement, raise your voice safely, and reclaim the future of ethical medicine in Australia.

Dr. Gary Fettke is a retired Tasmanian orthopaedic surgeon and vocal proponent of nutrition being a major component of prevention and management of modern disease.
In 2014, he became repeatedly targeted by the processed food industry for his opinion, culminating in a ‘silencing’ by the AHPRA/ Medical Board. After three Senate Inquiry presentations and the intervention of the National Health Ombudsman, 2018 saw a clearance of those charges with an apology from the board. Dr. Fettke continues to support health care professionals, on a weekly basis, in their AHPRA notifications.
The Public Health narrative has become politicised, particularly in recent years around COVID management. It continues to shift, and any questioning of those ‘moving’ policies by individual health professionals, has meant threatening behaviour from health regulators overstepping their own authority. Too many times, the process is the punishment and this can take unnecessary months to years, all at a very significant cost to the practitioners and their patients.
