Submission to WHO

PUBLIC HEARINGS REGARDING A NEW INTERNATIONAL INSTRUMENT ON PANDEMIC PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE: WRITTEN COMPONENT

AMPS Submission 13 April 2022

  1. The Australian Medical Professionals Society (AMPS) believes in the sovereignty of the Australian people. All health and emergency policy decisions must stay in Australia with frontline professionals involved in all emergency decision-making. All policy and legislative requirements in an emergency shall conform to the Siracusa Principles and Australian law.

  2. Our frontline professionals are best placed to provide the objective data, evidence and experience required to determine best practice guidelines. Grass-roots workers must be in charge of handling any future pandemic/emergency response. Not politicians and certainly not unelected bureaucrats.

  3. Centralised power is a threat to individualised response based on local evidence and grass-roots engagement. Political and medical oppression is a real risk, with Big Tech, Big Pharma, Mass Media and multinationals creating a massive power imbalance that must be prevented.

  4. We understand the importance of the scientific method and engaging with the frontline to ensure policy direction reduces harm. Therefore, censorship of scientific evidence-based debate must be expressly prohibited to prevent systematic violations of human rights.

  5. Australia must not enter any treaty that confers emergency policy power on the WHO. International bureaucrats cannot have the power to enforce emergency guidance which may supplant our sovereignty and laws.

  6. Transparency is central to trust. AMPS demands full transparency from the WHO. Declaring all annual funders and key stakeholders and allowing for independent oversight.
